Join the 2017-2018 STAY Project Steering Committee!
The STAY (Stay Together Appalachian Youth) Project is a diverse regional network of young people working together to create, advocate for, and participate in safe, sustainable, engaging and inclusive communities throughout Appalachia and beyond. The STAY Project focuses regionally on Central Appalachia and on youth-led initiatives to build skills, develop networks, and empower youth in Appalachia, especially youth of color, LGBTQ youth, and youth from low-income backgrounds through a diverse array of workshops at annual gatherings. Additionally, we partner with other organizations to connect STAY members with leadership opportunities, and host events and conversations throughout the year. The STAY Project seeks to reflect its membership in its selection of steering committee members.
The Steering Committee is responsible for the general decision making, financial health, representing STAY in their communities, and supporting the work of STAY throughout the year. One of the responsibilities of The STAY Project is to support and guide the work of the STAY Coordinator. The STAY Steering Committee is two-year time commitment with monthly phone calls and four in-person meetings a year. The first Steering Committee Meeting of the year is November 3rd-5th 2017 at the Highlander Center in New Market, TN.
